The overlapping rib will always go OVER the Purlin bearing leg.  The Purlin bearing leg will be overlapped as the roof is installed.

We recommend placing the screws in the flat area of the panel. The washer has a better opportunity to create a good seal.  If done correctly, this will provide superior leak protection versus placing the screws in the rib itself.  We all know that leaving a screw loose can cause leaking. However, over-tightening of a screw is probably a much more common cause of leaks and roof failures. Luckily, it is a problem that can easily be avoided.

No, by following these simple steps, you can easily leave the shingles on your roof, which will save you money and keep shingles out of a landfill  You can install a quality lathe 24″ on center. We recommend a NON-TREATED 1×4. DO NOT USE TREATED LUMBER for lathe.  Using a vapor barrier over the lathe helps to prevent condensation from occurring.  Using a single bubble foil insulation can dramatically increase the energy efficiency of your home.  Using proper materials and installation techniques will ensure that your new roof will be the last one you ever buy.
